Sawadee Ka! Our Honeymoon Part 2 : Phuket

Why the tourist mecca of Phuket Island? We made our decision purely based on the resort (and the room of which we were going to hole-up in). Plus the fact that air ticket to Thailand is cheap as we planned to splurge on accommodations instead.

We left Bangkok via a short flight to Phuket. After a quick taxi ride (with CJ7 as our driver), we reached SALA Phuket Resort and Spa.

Photobucket
Introducing Chat chai - I kid you not

We were greeted by friendly staff who sat us down with our welcome drinks while they processed our check-in. I immediately developed this relaxing feeling of being transported to this secluded serene environment from the hustle and traffic outside the barrier surrounding the resort.

*Warning : This post is overwhelmed with pictures as I got carried away trying to relish the moments

sala reception
The reception area

sala surrounding
Along the way to our room, I was in awe over how soothing the atmosphere of this whole place is

pool villa indoor
and then we walked into our to-die-for Garden Pool Villa

The friendly staff took the trouble to explain everything in the room including the charm that you can hang at the door if you wish not to be disturbed.. how lovely

sala charm
The do-not-disturb charm

As soon as he left the room, we explored the rest of the villa..

sala longan
Welcome fruit – ‘lam-yai’ or longan that I consumed on my own as tasty fruits have to be sour in hubby’s dictionary

sala bathtub
OMG! An outdoor bathtub

sala outdoor shower
Check out the outdoor shower too!

sala pool villa
And what is a pool villa without the pool..

sala villa
I did take from this angle following my previous post, for an overall look

The whole villa is so astonishing that I’m in love. I’m in love with the whole concept of the villa and with the contemporary design and the simplicity of it. I was so in love that I started dreaming of living there forever and ever or build my dream house based on the same concept.

sala in-villa dining
So in love were we with the villa that we didn’t want to step out of it and ordered in-villa dining. Hubby had a (unimaginative) burger and I had the Thai massamam curry. Dear hubby was craving for coke and had one from the mini bar that set us back THB 82 with tax (that was RM8.60! for a can of coke)

We only managed to drag ourselves out from the villa later that night to check out the resort.

sala at night
Quite romantic - there was a band playing.. and we walked around the resort to the beach side and swings everywhere to unwind and put our feet up

sala window shopping
Window shopping as the shop was closed at night

sala villa at nite
We returned to our room.. I mean VILLA, to find our bed turned and cookies to munch. I took more pictures (and made it a point to ensure that I sat in every corner of the villa during our stay too.. haha)

sala wireless
The villa is wireless and we were facebook-ing, chatting online, updating blogs.. I was still poring over wedding inspiration websites while hubby surfed for next-on-his-list gadgets

sala in morning

The next morning, we took another leisurely walk around the resort and I was still amazed over how tranquil this place is

sala breakfast
Breakfast is an indulgence in SALA. We could order whatever we like from the menu and had a feast for 2 consecutive days

sala pool view
Overlooking the serenity of the pool from the restaurant while savouring scrumptious food

mai khao beach
We made our way to the beach and the blue sky greeted us

dipping in pool
So while hubby was taking a dip in the pool and trying to burn off all the food consumed..

sala sun-bathing
I was happily sun-bathing with book in hand

In our last evening in Phuket, with heavy heart to leave our pool villa behind, we decided to head for the infamous Patong, the heart of Phuket’s nightlife and shopping. Patong has definitely ‘expanded’ since my last trip there. There’s an air-conditioned shopping mall, Jungceylon, that wasn’t there before. Needless to say, hubby headed straight into that.. haha..

sala purple theme

Have you noticed? The SALA Phuket Resort and Spa is in our wedding theme!

The touch of purple is so tastefully incorporated with the overall white. I swear I have no idea about this when we were booking the place. It even crossed our mind how nice it would have been if we were to have our wedding reception there. I could totally imagine that! Would you have attended with airfare at your own cost? Would you have minded if we were to pay for your deluxe balcony room
instead of pool villas?

sala restaurant
Can you? Imagine a wedding reception here?

Letting our imaginations run wild, we even decided that if we ever own or open up a resort, this is it. We would love to have a small personalized resort exactly like this (ya ya.. ok, I was dreaming!).. But are you willing to pay thousands of ringgit for a night?

Hi, I bumped into your blog while looking for pictures of blue skies to try to use on a wordpress template, and fell in love with your picture form Kiyomizudera... may I use it?

Hi Shōin, yes, you may use the Kiyomizu-dera pic (the blue sky was lovely!), but please if you may, link it back to my blog as a source.
