Should auld acquaintance be forgot..

I have a confession to make.

I am a terrible friend. In the sense that I seldom initiate friends’ gathering or take the initiative to constantly keep in touch. I blame it on busy work schedule but really, that’s not an excuse. I’m just plain lazy.

So how many school friends do I still hang out with? (not including those off chance I bumped into someone, smiled at her and put that aside as what a coincidence) Well, I can count with my fingers, from one hand.

3 weeks ago, I attended (attended sounds very distance, I would like to think I participated in) a girlfriend’s wedding. Someone I have known longer than half of my life. Yes, we go way back and yes, she got married! I’m overjoyed for her.

Congratulations to you HL! (don’t bully WK so much ya!)

Her announcement came at the same time when I got engaged too (although mine is a longer engagement.. thank goodness!) and I was trilled for her and at the prospect of going through the wedding planning process together. But alas, work got on the way and before I knew it, her wedding day came and passed. I never doubt that she was capable of handling the whole wedding on her own, but I just wish I could have helped her more along the way and be there for her.

But then again, maybe she doesn’t trust my advices. Since young, we both have extreme opposite opinions when it comes to making fashion statements. But we sort of learned each other’s preference. When we go shopping together for example, when I see an overly complicated girly-frilly dress, I will pick it up and make her try. While she’ll point out to me simple dresses that she discards for they’re more likely my style!

Reminiscences of our teenhood brought back lots of memories and most of the times include another close friend. CY has gone missing from our lives since we last saw her during her son’s full moon party, and Oliver is now 4 years old (she’s been living in Singapore with her hubby and son).

Unexpectedly received a call from CY the day after HL’s wedding to meet-up since she was in town. It was a pleasant surprise indeed. Tired as she was, darling HL dragged her 1-day old hubby then, to meet CY.

Oliver is truly a handful to handle. He is hyper and playful but oh so charming :)

Was on a phone conversation with CY last night as they are planning a trip to KL next weekend and would like to make plans to have dinner. The whole conversation transported me back to school days when we talked and complained and made references to HL’s funny remarks etc.. And this morning, I did the same on the phone with HL talking about CY.

I never did realize how much I miss my friends until now.. Life has a funny way of coming back in a circle (that’s right, older and wiser me talking now.. :P)
