Perth, Australia – Movie outing

Things have again turned nightmarish back home being tied-up with work and more wedding planning (fiancĂ© has finally pressed panic button and pushing to finalize decisions and confirmations). Anyway, bottom line is I’m not in my relax mood and don’t think my state of mind would do justice to the laid back lifestyle experienced in Perth if I blog about it.

So I’m going to write a frustrated personal review on Sex and the City : The Movie. Yes, paid an exorbitant RM28 / A$9.00 per person on half price Tuesday (normal tickets cost A$15.50) to watch The Movie that is R rated (R for strong sexual content, graphic nudity and language).

Spoilers ahead – don’t read if you haven’t but planning to catch the movie. Opening 24 July 2008 in local cinemas after undergoing censorship.

I have never watched one single complete episode of SATC. But I don’t think that affects my view of the movie. I loved the happy endings, the friendships portrayed and the fashion paraded! AND the wedding scene! (the short-lived wedding scene anyway)

SATC
Carrie in a Vivienne Westwood gown.. and the vibrant bridesmaids’ dresses

But I don’t like Mr. Big.

Carrie is literary jilted on the aisle by him and yet that girl went ahead and forgave him in the end. What a gutless selfish man if you ask me. After 10 years, he finally ‘agreed’ to marry her but refused to get on with it because he didn’t want a big showy wedding? What’s with this being his 3rd wedding that translated to she can’t be having a grand first wedding? And he turned away just because he couldn’t get her through her phone? How childish is that? It’s like saying ‘You didn’t pick up your phone, I don’t wanna friend you anymore!’. Can’t he call the other girls he knows she was with? What about back in the days before the invention of telephone?? Excuses.. and more excuses.

If the guy is so hesitant in marrying you, please do yourself a favour and forget him.

And what’s with the lukewarm apology? Ya ya, he sent multiple emails that she ignored. What about looking up for her and tell her face to face? Too much efforts? Bleh.. love of his life so called. And Carrie is just plain naive to fall for all that nonsense.

Disclaimer : No, I personally do not dream of an over the top wedding (I don't even like her couture gown), but if that’s what the girl wants, a one day event is no reason to jeopardize a couple’s lifelong commitment.. if they are truly committed.

I think my fiancé is by now getting very worried reading this, having to re-think what he has to give in when it comes to the wedding..

Back from Blue Skies Holiday

I was away for a blissful 10 days of doing nothing but hanging out down under.
